As part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, Orius undertook an assessment of its practices with EcoVadis, a global leader in CSR ratings. This evaluation is based on 21 criteria divided into four fundamental themes: Environment, Social & Human Rights, Ethics, and Responsible Purchasing.
For our first evaluation, conducted on October 1st, 2024, Orius received the bronze medal with a score of 62/100, ranking among the top 25% of companies worldwide.
This distinction reflects our ongoing commitment to improving our CSR practices, generating a positive impact on both the environment and society.
The analysis provided by EcoVadis allows us to effectively audit our performance and guide our future efforts toward continuous improvement. The criteria used by EcoVadis align with recognized international standards, such as the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact, the conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and the ISO 26000 standard.
Our environmental management achieved a score of 70/100, highlighting key initiatives such as waste recycling, improving energy efficiency, and reducing carbon emissions.
Regarding recycling, Orius has implemented a specific collection for its organic waste. While we maximize the valorization of the biomass produced, the maintenance and harvesting of our crops generate unavoidable waste. We collaborate with a local company to valorize organic waste, both from our crops and the food scraps from our teams.
In terms of energy efficiency, our teams have developed lighting and air conditioning equipment that consumes, on average, 15% to 50% less energy than standard market solutions. We closely monitor our energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, enabling us to objectively assess our cultivation processes in terms of their carbon impact compared to conventional farming methods.
In the area of social responsibility and human rights, we have proactively acted to protect the health and safety of our employees.
Training and prevention programs have been deployed to continuously improve working conditions while supporting our employees in their professional development.
On the ethical front, Orius has established a set of measures to ensure the protection of customer data. These initiatives enhance the transparency of our corporate governance and demonstrate our commitment to conducting responsible and secure business activities.
The EcoVadis bronze medal represents a milestone for Orius, but our ambition does not stop there. We are committed to continuing our efforts to improve our CSR practices and to increase our positive impact on both environmental and social fronts, while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
